Clearwater Technology’s ‘one in a million’
Clearwater Technology is the market leader in providing Legionella compliance within the UK. This month the company surpassed its millionth water sample since implementing an electronic recording system in October 2008. However, according to Business Development Director, Allan Pitt, it is thought that ‘since the formation of Clearwater Technology in 1990, it’s estimated that in excess of 2.5 million water samples have actually been taken by Clearwater to provide compliance for customers’.
The current record system documents Legionella and other microbiological monitoring undertaken by the business, and has reached a million this month, with a sample taken for Legionella by Greg Robinson from the Frimley office.
‘Legionnaires' disease is a potentially fatal form of pneumonia caused by the inhalation of small droplets of contaminated water containing Legionella. All man-made hot and cold water systems are likely to provide an environment where Legionella can grow… the L8 Approved Code of Practice (3rd edition) (ACOP) … has been a requirement for landlords of both domestic and business premises to assess the risks from exposure to Legionella.’ (http://www.hse.gov.uk/legionnaires)
